Lakelands Toros Junior Academy Program.
The Toros Junior Academy is a program designed for 7-11 year old boys and girls interested in making an initial, partial step toward Select competitive, travel soccer. The Junior Academy program is a great learning venue for our younger players and one in which they can develop a real love for the game. All Junior Academy teams are coached by professional, state and Nationally licensed coaches. Compared with a full, Select travel program, the Academy offers reduced expenses, a shorter season (just three months), and reduced travel and weekend commitments.
Training
Academy players train twice a week for 1.5 hours per practice, with the emphasis on technical skills and an introduction to tactical concepts. In addition, our players are encouraged to attend the weekly game nights and technical practices that the club provides at no extra charge. We also encourage all of the players in the Academy program to train on their own or with friends and to watch as much soccer as possible.
Games
Our junior academy team play 8-10 games a season on Sunday afternoon's in Greenville. We try to play two games on a game date to reduce the amount of traveling during the season. Our junior academy teams play 7v7 or 9v9 small sided soccer, which allows for maximum touches on the ball in the games.
Tournaments
Our junior academy teams attend one end of season tournament per season. Teams can attend additional tournaments, but at an additional charge.
